Pre-Filter

A pre-filter, also known as a coarse filter, is the first line of defense in an air filtration system. It is typically located at the very beginning of an air conditioning or fresh air system, primarily responsible for filtering larger particulate pollutants from the air.

Regularly cleaning or replacing the pre-filter is the simplest and most economical maintenance measure to keep the entire air system operating efficiently and stably.

Main Functions and Roles

Protecting Downstream Equipment: This is its core function. It captures large particles such as hair, dust, catkins, and insect carcasses, preventing these substances from entering and clogging downstream medium-efficiency filters, high-efficiency filters, and the heat exchangers (coils) and fans of the air conditioning system. This extends the lifespan of these more sophisticated and expensive devices and maintains system efficiency.

Preliminary Air Purification: Provides basic, preliminary air purification for indoor air, removing visible suspended particles.

Reduced Operating Costs: Due to the low cost of pre-filters, replacing them regularly is much more economical than cleaning or replacing clogged medium-efficiency or high-efficiency filters and repairing the air conditioning system.
